Why I think it is important for Kansas government officials to operate in the light of day, rather than in secret, behind closed doors:

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters." - Benjamin Franklin
A government that hides behind closed doors is a government that is not accountable to anyone for anything. And a government that is not held accountable is a government that leans towards corruption. The American people cannot make educated decisions about who to vote for to lead our nation unless they know what each politician has done with their power. We cannot be assured that our tax money is appropriated correctly without transparency. If we do not have a say in how the tax money is spent, that is an example of taxation without representation.
