Why I think it is important for Kansas government officials to operate in the light of day, rather than in secret, behind closed doors:

Our elected representatives are there to manage OUR state resources. We are the owners and have given them the authority to act as caretaker. As owners, we have the job of seeing they take good, proper and responsible care of our state. When we become disinterested in oversight, it is only natural for them to begin to view the state as theirs. This easily leads to deal-making and tit-for-tat agreements and to the eventual dark-of-night deals and votes that we have seen become so prevalent in Topeka. It is time that we, as the proper owners of the Great State of Kansas, strongly demand that complete transparency and openness return to Kansas. Our elected officials and the state agencies and institutions they fund must comply with our request. Those elected officials that do not agree or comply should be quickly and unceremoniously replaced at the first opportunity.
