Ask Your Senator to Support Federal Workforce Development Programs
Please contact your Senators today and ask them to sign the Blumenthal "Dear Colleague" letter in support of federal workforce development programs.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) is circulating a "Dear Colleague" letter urging Senate leaders to reject funding cuts to employment and training programs. It is vitally important that we get as many signatures as possible on this letter to clearly signal Congress' continued support for investing in the skills of the U.S. workforce.
Congress cut more than $1 billion in Fiscal Year (FY) 2011 funding for federal job training and employment programs, and the House is expected to propose even further reductions in FY 2012, slashing funding for these critical services while eliminating or consolidating key workforce programs. If enacted, these proposals would significantly reduce access to needed skills training and related services for the nearly 16 million unemployed or underemployed workers across the country, and would stifle economic growth by reducing the ability of employers to fill current and future job openings. We need your help to make sure this does not happen.
Please join us in standing up for America's workers and industries.
