By 2012 outstanding student loan debt (federal and private) will hit a staggering $1 trillion. While I am quite aware of initiatives to make higher education more affordable and so forth, why isn't the Department of Education doing more to help CURRENT student loan debtors? (Keep in mind current borrowers is not interchangeable with either prospective or current students).
