GLSEN & The Trevor Project Win White House Champions of Change

Two organizations focused on the safety and support of LGBT teens have been honored with the White House's Champions of Change award this week.  Selected by nominations from communities, The Champions of Change awards extraordinary individuals, organizations, and initiatives for efforts focused on making a real difference in American communities. 

This week's awards, focused on suicide prevention, recognized The Trevor Project and the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN)--organizations devoted to creating and nurturing a safe and accepting world for LGBTQ individual. From community initiatives to hotlines to viral video projects, they provide constant encouragement to endure, ignore, and fight through the cruel bullying that many LGBTQ teens suffer from the rejection of their peers.  As they have gained momentum, endorsement and participation from celebrities, and constant action, it is no doubt that the efforts of these very much deserving organization have saved hundreds of lives.
