Help Ensure Funding for National Drug-Free Communities!
Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA)
September 18, 2013

Take two minutes to make your voice heard!

In his FY 2014 budget request, the President recommended funding the Drug Free Communities (DFC) program at $85.7 million. This is $1.7 million below the FY 2013 final sequestered level of $87.4 million and $6.3 million below the FY12 appropriated.

Due to the collective advocacy of the Community Anti-Drug Coalition of America (CADCA) and the field, both the House and the Senate Appropriations Committees have recommended funding the DFC program at levels above the President’s Request. The full Senate Appropriations Committee recommended $92 million for the program. The full House Appropriations Committee recommended $88 million for the program.

The FY 2014 appropriations process is not yet complete. To ensure that the DFC program receives the highest possible funding level in the final FY 2014 Appropriations Act, it is imperative that the field responds en masse to this legislative alert.

What You Can Do

Ask your members of Congress to fund the DFC program at $92 million, the level included in the full Senate Appropriations Committee bill for FY 2014. Get everyone in your network to respond to this alert as well.

Using CADCA’s CapWiz system, send a letter to your members of Congress. YOUR FAX IS CRITICAL. The more letters the members of your congressional delegation receive on this issue, the more likely they are to support a funding level of $92 million for FY 2014 this program.

If you would like to personalize your letter with examples from your community, email CADCA here to get a version of the full letter.

CADCA will continue to monitor the DFC program as the appropriations process moves forward and will alert you when further action must be taken.
