Internship in U.S. Congress for Young Adults Who Were in Care
The Foster Youth Internship Program of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) is open to young adults who spent at least 24 consecutive months in foster care and who have completed at least four semesters of college by May 29, 2012.
CCAI places these interns in Congressional offices in Washington, DC, for a nine-week internship program. Participants aim to inspire legislative improvements to the foster care system and will gain fabulous experience. Interns get to write a policy report to be presented at a briefing and disseminated to policymakers and advocates across the country. Housing, travel, and a weekly stipend are provided.
The application deadline is January 6, 2012 at 11:59pm Eastern Time. CCAI must receive your completed application. The dates for the 2012 Foster Youth Internships Program are May 29, 2012-July 28, 2012.
This video featuring 2010 CCAI interns tells a powerful story about the meaning of this internship, both for the new interns, and for those for whom they are advocating--kids in the American foster system.
