Priscilla's is a lounge dedicated to unite people of all ages, race, cultures, and economic status by promoting creativity. Priscilla's encourages the Arts which includes but not limited to; poetry, spoken word, mimes, theater(Plays and monologues) unsigned singers, rappers and other musicians and artist to come and share their work with the community for free! This gives artist and the community a chance to be exposed and appreciated by their peers. Our shows are every night in an attempt to keep youth active after school hours and to also give them a space where they can be stimulated mentally. Priscilla's also host monthly educational seminars based on current events and issues that affect our community. In addition we also host monthly community events were we choose a neighborhood to clean, plant flowers and trees, and other activities that help promote unity and the development of the community. We also have a small lunch and dinner menu and offer a calm and relaxed atmosphere for artist to be at their best and for the community to be most comfortable. This is my idea and truly incorporates my interest of the Arts and unity in our community, in an attempt to decrease violence, stereotypes and increase unity and love.
Hi my name is Valencia Cooper, I'm 23 years old and live in Capitol Heights, MD. I'm a current college student and hope to graduate next year. My hobbies include writing, reading and learning new and interesting topics. I have been writing for 7 years and hope to soon publish a book of poetry and a book of short stories. The idea for Priscilla's came to me when completing a assignment in my Business class. We were instructed to think of a new innovative business idea and write a business plan. I took this opportunity to create something that I actually want to see come to light. I believe Priscilla's speaks to everyone and stands for something positive that many communities in our Nation need. I found Art to be a common ground many can relate to without excluding any age, race or economic status. I wish to unite people and help them to see that we all are very much alike.
