Project RISE Program
Sharing is caring
Project Rise helps unemployed 18 to 24 year-olds who are currently out of school and lack a high school degree or GED to re-engage in productive activities through a combination of educational opportunities, paid internships, and case management as a pathway to long-term economic self-sufficiency. Project Rise is an education conditioned internship program being replicated through the national Social Innovation Fund (SIF). The Social Innovation Fund, administered by the Corporation for National and Community Service, is a public-private partnership to replicate successful programs and build evidence for more impactful ways to reduce poverty and improve communities. Please help us sustain this project by supporting Internships wages, supportive services to help some of the most disconnected young adults who lack healthy relationships, structured support systems, and access to gainful employment opportunities. Sincerely, Kirk Proctor, Project RISE Program Manager/Full Employment Council-Kansas City, Missouri
I was born and raised in Kansas City, MO. My professional background has always included working with young people specifically from the community in which I was raised. I am a first generation college graduate, and was raised by a single parent. To overcome challenges in my neighborhood I was encouraged by my Mother to focus on goals early in life. She raised me and two young siblings to believe in ourselves, value Education and put God 1st in our lives. We have all attended college, and I recently received a Master's Degree from Avila University in Kansas City, MO. Many of my relatives and close friends growing up have become incarcerated, were killed or disappeared from my immediate knowledge because of my interest and encouragement from healthy relationships and mentors to achieve to stand out. I have not always made the right decisions, and have often made mistakes in my life. However, because of God's Grace and people that surrounded me to lift me up...I can patiently work with the young adults I engage with through Managing the Project RISE Program in Kansas City, MO.
