Reading Garden
Sharing is caring
My idea is to bring reading to life. Reading is essential in everyone's life. What better place to read than in the outdoors. Bringing characters to life in our minds is what literature is all about. I've noticed that the best places I've read was when i'm outdoors. Having a breeze and smell of nature is a much more pleasant than being cooked up in a stuffy room full of distractions. My reading garden would include a field of soft green golf grass comfortable enough to be barefoot. It would be full of all sorts of flowers around the park. The garden would also have many many trees for shade and to attract birds of all types. A couple of trees would be turned into a tree house for kids to read in. Along with the trees the garden would have sandy area near a small lake, which would have umbrellas for students to have the sense as if they were reading at the beach. Many picnic tables would be placed along the garden for people to eat at and read as well. The garden would have electrical outlets for students to do their homework on their laptops/ tablets. The garden would also be used for recreational activities and educational activities. The garden would also have a giant vegetable garden in which the community can go plant vegetables and once harvest season arrives, they would be able to have fresh vegetables to eat. Everyone would be invited to come and plant vegetables. Hammocks would be spread around the park for people to read or take a nature nap. There would be a couple of chalk boards placed around the garden along with tables in shade to provide a place for students to do their homework with a tutor, or for students to do group projects. Electrical tiki torches would be spread around the park to provide lighting.A couple of security guards would be hired to make sure everyone is safe and quiet for others to read. There will be a snack bar also full of healthy brain food. Daily maintenance will be required so the garden can keep its beauty and image.
My name is Janet Salcedo and i'm a Senior in high school. Many of the times when I go to the park it's not very appealing to go to. Parks are not being maintained as well as we'd liked them to be. It takes me a while to get in the mood of reading at my house when i'm full of distractions, but when I go outside to do my homework or read a book I find it very enjoyable. Using the sunlight instead of electricity is a much more better enjoyable setting to do homework. If a reading garden were created in my town I know many kids, youth, and adults would take advantage of it. To be able to read in the beach can be a difficult if not living near one, but through this reading garden that experience is possible. Nature will be the number one reason why people would come and read a book. This reading garden would motivate students to read more and to do their homework. I would place many fictional books around the reading garden for students to read. Overall it would enhance student's education and build a more positive healthy community.
