In order to create more jobs for the youth in the United States, the government needs to have a progressive tax. If wealthier people get a larger percentage of their income taken out for the government, more money could circulate in the United States. Since the United States mostly has proportional tax, the middle class citizens get a significant amount of their money taken and have a tendency to live check to check. In addition, a progressive tax would help lower the debt that the United States is in-- opening the doors for more jobs to get funded. The programs could be stipend-based or salary-based, giving teens the ability to have a time choice that is best for them. More teen jobs would be a great asset to the United States because college prices are getting higher and interest rates on loans are too high.
I am a self-motivated Nashville teen; who volunteers at the Nashville Public Library and Nashville Cares. I serve as an intern at the Oasis Center and I started working with Youth United in the summer of 2010. At the time, the funding for youth programs were running out, now Youth United and Oasis Community Impact have combined to make Oasis Youth Action Council (OYAC). OYAC is composed of ten youth who want to make a difference in their school and community. We are currently working on implementing a Student Bill of Rights and Responsibilities into the Metro Nashville Public School handbook. We are also trying to get our research results from a North Nashville Gun survey put into a pamphlet format. I believe this project idea fits into what I do because the group I work with is youth lead and this project calls for the opinion of teens. I think a diversified panel of youth could give SparkAction all the information they need to know regarding how to get jobs available for teens.
