The EPA's long-awaited Mercury and Air Toxics Standards are now under attack in Congress. This rule will finally place a limit on the amount of mercury and other toxics that power plants can emit to our air, will save thousands of lives every year, and is essential to protect the health of our children.

However, polluter lobbyists and their allies in Congress are using every tool they can to kill or weaken critical health protections.

Take action today and send a letter to your Congressperson to show your support for the new standards. A letter template, all ready to go, reads:

I Support the New Mercury and Air Toxics Rule

I care deeply about all our children's health. I'm one of your constituents, and I'm writing to let you know of my strong support for the EPA's new Mercury and Air Toxics Standards. The new rule will prevent up to 11,000 premature deaths each year and dramatically reduce toxic pollution like mercury, arsenic, and acid gases.

We have a right to breathe air that doesn't harm us.

I ask you to support the EPA's new Mercury and Air Toxics Standards. I urge you to protect it from attacks by corporate polluters and special interests. Science -- not polluters and not politics -- should dictate the policies that affect our health and our environment. Thank you.
