Video: The 99 Percent Act Discussed
In December, Congressional Progressive Caucus introduced a bill to help turn the economy around--called the 99% Act. As a part of the American Dream Talks series by Rebuild the Dream, the Congresseional Progressive Caucus co-chairs Reps. Raúl Grijalva and Keith Ellison, participated in an online forum.
At this forum, which was streamed live online, the co-chairs had a roundtable discussion with two Americans who have taken action in support of the 99% Act.: Tiffany Mellers, an unemployed Army reservist and mother of three, and Molly Katchpole, a 22-year-old recent college graduate who succeeded in forcing Bank of America to drop its monthly $5 debit card fee.
here, they discuss how the 99% Act takes ideas from the Contract for the American Dream and puts them into a comprehensive bill for fixing thebroken economy—from creating 5 million jobs in two years, to ending the war in Afghanistan, to a new tax on millionaires and Wall Street greed.
