Funding Opportunities for Assistance in the Gulf Coast Region

     

Grant Application Process for Interfaith Community

The Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund is accepting applications from religious organizations in the Gulf Region hit by Hurricane Katrina.  The grants can be used to assist in rebuilding houses of worship and to help reimburse for costs for temporary houses of worship. If they meet the eligibility criteria, each faith institution will be eligible for funding up to $35,000.  Deadline:  July 31, 2006.  Click here for more information.

Grants for Youth Initiatives

Young people who want to launch a venture can earn up to $1,000 to support their organization, club, or business that will aid those affected by Hurricane Katrina.  Grants are available through Youth Venture and MTV.

Hope Venture Grants will be offered every week for the next six months to groups of two or more young people (age 13 to 20). Deadline:  December 31, 2006.  Click here for more information. 

Providing Services to Children and Families

Nonprofit organizations located in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama providing services to children and families affected by Hurricane Katrina.

Grant Range can receive funding through Rosie O'Donnell's foundation, Rosie's for All Kids. Due to the evolving nature of this program, grant amounts will be determined based upon availability of funds and the number of funding requests received.   Deadline:  Ongoing.  Click here for more information.

Library Relief Program

Dollar General has created a grant program to benefit public school libraries in communities affected by disasters. The fund will provide grants for books, media, and/or equipment that support learning in a school library environment. Maximum Award: $15,000.
