Community Network for Youth Development: Resources

March 14, 2013

For more than a decade, the Community Network for Youth Development (CNYD) has served youth workers and youth-serving organizations in the Bay Area as an intermediary organization. They aim to improve the quality of programs for youth by supporting and strengthening the people and agencies who work with them.

CNYD's resources and expertise are in increasing demand as communities embrace a youth development approach. They have developed tools and processes to transfer know-how to these communities and large youth-serving organizations in California.

  • Background research that supports the value of using the youth development approach, and

Specific and practical advice on how to strengthen individual staff practices and organizational policies in after school programs to support learning and young people's healthy development. Each chapter in the Youth Development Guide presents descriptions of core youth development practices, provides hands-on examples of how to encourage and strengthen practices, and offers exercises to use with staff members on site.
