Foundational and Emergent Questions

For adolescent literacy, these are exciting times also in that the field enjoys a rare level of consensus and consistency in its core principles, priorities, theories and reccommendations for policy and practice. In just the last few years, and owing in no smalll part to the lack of "reading wars", or other internal divisions, advocates have made tremendous progress in persuading federal, state and local education leaders to invest new resources in this area, to adopt new curricular guidelines, develop new classroom materials, create new professional development progrms, and sponsor important new lines of research.
