Hear Us Out: Students Talk About Going to College

December 30, 2010

Students do not get the college-going help they need from schools until far too late in the game, according to a new report by a research team of 25 diverse high school students from Tennessee and Washington state. Instead, parents and guardians largely step into the gap, according to their study, "Hear Us Out"—a joint initiative between WKCD, Lumina Foundation, and two local education funds. Almost 5,000 students completed the youth researchers’ survey; another 225 joined focus groups. Read the report and watch videos of students talking about their college dreams and hurdles.
