Quality of Care at School-Aged Child Care Programs

January 1, 1996

This study investigated the associations between children’s experiences in school-aged child care programs and three types of program features: structural variables (child-staff ratios), staff characteristics (amount of formal education), and curriculum (activities provided). The researchers found that larger child-to-staff ratios, lower staff education, and fewer program activities were each associated with negative staff/child interactions.
