Rewriting Education: Reactions to the Senate ESEA Bill

On October 11, Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa), chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) committee, released a draft of a comprehensive bill to reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, the major legislation governing federal public education, currently known as No Child Left Behind.

To craft the bill, Harkin worked closely for nearly two years with Rep. Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.), his fellow HELP Committee member.
