State Primary Prevention Plan

December 27, 2002

Vermont’s Primary Prevention Plan indicates how state resources can be used to strengthen the commitment of local communities to alter conditions from those that contribute to delinquency or other problem behaviors to those that promote the health and well being of all citizens. Several departments and agencies are mandated to participate in the Primary Prevention Plan, including the Department of Education, Agency of Human Services, Department of Motor Vehicles, Office of the Attorney General, Agency of Development and Community Affairs, Department of Employment and Training, Department of Public Safety, Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation. The planning process, funded by the Children and Family Council for Prevention Programs, is overseen by a steering committee composed of the Council and the Vermont Prevention Institute.
