Texas Teens Are Being Sent to Jail for Skipping School

The story of one of more than a thousand Texas teenagers who have been ordered to lockup on charges that stem from missing school, often because they have unpaid court fines. The first school day after 11th grader Serena Vela was released from a nine-day jail sentence, administrators kicked her out. She had gone to jail because of a law intended to keep kids on the path to graduation, but instead, her high school career was over.
